I encourage you to move, eat and drink while using comfort measures of your choice during labor.Labor & birth in the comfort of your own home or in the safety of the birth center.Born 2ba Blessing birth center offers a quaint historic environment located in Waxahachie.My practice includes immediate skin-to-skin contact with baby, delayed cord clamping, and delayed newborn care until after breastfeeding has been initiated.I know that this is a special time for you and I encourage you to soak it all in! I promise you that I will protect and respect the birth process and provide a safe space for you to birth that fosters a natural, undisturbed birth process.

Whether this is your first baby or your 5th, we take the opportunity to include family. Sometimes that is a new G'ma as labor support and other times it looks more like siblings getting in on the newborn assessment. Either way, we want you to be comfortable including family in your birth experience.

A thorough and gentle newborn exam will be performed within hours of birth in your presence. Postpartum care continues for 2-4 hours after birth assuring you and baby are healthy and doing well. I will then see you & baby at home 48 hrs after birth for a check and newborn screen. Follow-up will continue at 2 weeks for a repeat newborn screen and weight check; then at 6 weeks and 12 weeks when we will complete your care.
I recommend following up with the pediatrician of your choice after the 2-week check.
Lactation support is available for in-home assistance and care.

If you risk out of birth outside the hospital or require non-emergent transfer during labor, birth, or postpartum, I collaborate with Dr. Tricia Shimer, who I will refer you to. She delivers at Medical City Dallas. I do not have privileges at this time, but I may still be able to assist you during birth.

I am not in-network with insurance companies and require cash payment. I will provide you with a global midwifery superbill that encompasses individualized care for all services from basic prenatal care through birth and postpartum for low-risk out-of-hospital births. Most insurance companies will reimburse for care provided by Certified Nurse Midwives.
